UK Horsewatch Alliance
Thames Valley Horsewatch has been relaunched in 2016 with a new website, new leaflets, folders, stable and vehicle signs. Thames Valley Mounted Section supported TVH in the acquisition of this. Work is continuing to sign up new members to TV Alert.
Francis Habgood, Chief Constable, Thames Valley Police, says, “Thames Valley Horsewatch is an organisation which was created to tackle equestrian related crime in our area. They strive to reduce the number of equestrian related crimes by providing crime prevention advice and carrying out property marking events. They also act as our eyes and ears within the equestrian community which provides us with valuable intelligence and helps in the tracking of stolen property. Their objectives fall within Thames Valley Police's force plan which is why I continue to offer them my full support.”
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Police, Anthony Stansfeld, says, “Responsible horse ownership is an important part of life for many in the countryside. Horses need to be looked after properly and when not looked after can be a problem to both motorists and farmers on whose land they are sometimes abandoned. I have seen at close hand the result of a horse going through a car windscreen after ramblers had left undone a field gate. The theft of both horses and riding tack are an issue within the Thames Valley, and TVP are addressing rural crime with the seriousness it deserves. Horsewatch provides a most useful forum for those interested in the welfare of horses, their responsible ownership, and the security of both horses and associated equipment. I am delighted to support it.”
